Celtic could be in the market for at least three new defenders in the January window, with loan flop Jahmai Simpson-Pusey poised to return to Manchester City. The Parkhead club had been chasing a new right-back as well as a right-sided centre-back as they seek to revamp the squad under Wilfried Nancy. Celtic were already looking at adding new additions in central defence, but Simpson-Pusey’s exit means they could now target two new centre-backs. The 20-year-old has only made one appearance for Celtic despite being a regular in Pep Guardiola’s City squad last season. Simpson-Pusey’s failure to establish himself at Parkhead leave Celtic further depleted in terms of depth and cover in central defence.
