Speaking to The Sunday Morning, Minister of Wildlife and Forest Conservation C.B. Rathnayake said the present penalties that are drafted in the Penal Code will be changed. 25,000 for hunting wild animals.”In addition to that, the Ministry is also employing the skills of the tri-forces to assist in monitoring any environment destruction activities within forest conservation areas. “The Department of Wildlife Conservation and the Department of Forest only have about 1,000 rangers and forest officers at present.
