A wildfire south of Mill Bay on Vancouver Island has closed a portion of the Malahat Highway, and is spreading southwards. The Mill Bay fire can be seen from the Saanich Peninsula. (Dennis Clarke/Facebook)Marg Drysdale, spokesperson for the Coastal Fire Centre, said the 0.7 hectare fire is 2.5 kilometres north of Bamberton. The fire is visible from the Saanich Peninsula as well as the Malahat Highway. The fire risk on southern Vancouver Island is listed as extreme.
