Wild turkey blamed for serious crash between motorcycle and truck on Ontario highway

A wild turkey was the cause of a potentially fatal crash between a motorcycle and a truck on Highway 3 on Tuesday morning, say OPP. The collision caused the motorcyclist to lose control and veer into the oncoming lanes — striking a westbound International tractor trailer. Wild turkeys in Ontario average in size around 18 pounds for males and eight pounds for females. By 2007, the Ministry of Natural Resources estimated the total number of wild turkeys in Ontario at more than 70,000 and rising. The spring turkey hunt is typically the larger and more significant of the two hunting seasons.
