Wild falcon settles in Hamilton for lengthy staySTOCK IMAGE The falcon is believed to be a young male bird, around two years old. Also known as kārearea, the young male has been spotted at Hamilton Gardens and Hamilton Lake several times in the past three months. He estimated the falcon looked to be a young male around two years old. It's not every day a falcon is seen soaring around Hamilton. They live in forests amd are found in the North Island mainly south of Hamilton and in the northwest of the South Island as far south as Greymouth.
