But according to World Health Organisation chief scientist Dr Soumya Swaminathan, vaccinating children is not a priority. Also considered are the elderly, people who have underlying illnesses that make them at high risk to develop severe disease. "In fact, we have a group called the Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety. We will be monitoring the safety of vaccines as they get rolled out,” Dr Swaminathan said.
