Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina became very annoyed at suggestions of party leaders to celebrate her birthday in style. “Why should Awami League celebrate my birthday? Why would it be a topic of discussion for the meeting?” the Awami League president said while addressing the meeting on Saturday. She said: “I had said before that we should not discuss this [prime minister’s birthday]; then why has this issue come up on the agenda of the meeting again?”The prime minister also said she does not want the party to celebrate her birthday in an extravagant manner. Every year, on the prime minister’s birthday, leading members of the party greet Sheikh Hasina with flowers.
