School trips, once known as field trips, have been part of all our educational experiences. In most jurisdictions, though, school trips have decreased primarily due to high financial costs, significant liability concerns for school boards, and staffing shortages. There have been other incidents but a new veil of not allowing school trips has come to the fore. As an example, the Near North District School Board (NNDSB) has adopted a School Trip Preparedness (STP) approach within its administrative guidelines.
