PETALING JAYA: A legal advocacy group has questioned Singapore’s refusal to issue a certificate that will spare the life of Malaysian P. Pannir Selvam from the gallows after he helped in the investigation. “Singapore’s denial to issue a certificate of substantive assistance is a breach or deprivation of Pannir’s life. So, we are very surprised why the Singapore Attorney Gene­ral’s Chambers (AGC) did not issue the certificate,” said Surendran in a press conference yesterday. Pannir was granted a stay of execution on May 23, a day before he was to head to the gallows. “He is sad that he has brought the family into this situation but he hasn’t given up,” he added.
