Global investment manager Schroders says record-low interest rates in developed markets is causing an influx of capital to private markets. Private markets, which include private equity, infrastructure and hedge funds, still get a drop in the ocean of individual investors' money. Private markets, including asset classes like private equity, infrastructure funds, private debt, and venture capital, are now a vast and growing market. The democratisation of private marketsGeorg Wunderlin, the global head of private assets at Schroders, said it's not just the low-interest rates that have made private assets more attractive. But outside of pension funds, private assets like private equity are not regulated as separate asset classes in South Africa.
