Briefcase 1 GSLV FO 5 uses made-in-India cryogenic engine. HISTORY OF CRYOGENIC ENGINE IN INDIAThis is the first time an operational flight of the GSLV, the top stage of the launch vehicle is powered by a made-in-India cryogenic engine. Significantly, of these, five flew with a Russian cryogenic engine onboard while the other three used indigenously developed ones. It opens vistas for India to sell its GSLV rockets as a heavier launcher, at a competitive price, on the international market to get a share of the global $300B satellite launch business. THE FUTUREA successor satellite, INSAT 3DS is expected to operate from 2022 to 2029.
