The UK has issued its first ever red alert for hot weather, with scorching temperatures set to soar to 40°C. But why is it so hot and where is the hot weather coming from? According to the Met Office, climate change is making heatwaves hotter and has already influenced the likelihood of temperature extremes in the UK.
