The burning effigies of brothers Ravan, Meghnad and Kumbhakarn and grounds hosting the Ram-Lila, acts from the Indian epic Ramayan are a common sight on Dussehra. At these Ram-Lilas, artists dress up as characters from Ramayan and perform the scenes from the epic which ends with the triumph of Ram over Ravan, and essentially good over evil. The Ramayan is a compilation of a central story revolving Ram and many other sub-plots, events, anecdotes and characters that we associate with Dussehra.
