The online retail giant announced today that it is extending its discounted Prime membership to recipients of Medicaid, the federal health insurance program for low-income Americans. For $5.99 per month, Medicaid recipients can receive free two-day shipping on Amazon purchases, as well as access to music, movies and other benefits. I can personally attest to how life-changing an online prescription service can be. If Amazon and other online medicine providers can help people with disabilities and their caregivers, I’m all for it. For people who rely on Medicaid, Amazon is hoping to make their lives a little easier by expanding easy access to needed goods and helping them save time and money as well.
