Jubilee Party secretary-general Raphael Tuju plans to walk for 50 kilometres to raise funds to equip Kijabe hospital. Tuju recounted that the accident occurred while he was sleeping and one of his lungs was collapsing due to the damage. His intestine was also damaged by the seatbelt, but he still believes the seat belt saved him a great deal. "The prognosis after my accident was not good, there was just 50 percent or less chance that I would be able to walk again because the damage was on the vertebrae." Tuju's vehicle hit a matatu at Magina area along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway and was rushed to Kijabe Hospital before he was stabilized and airlifted to Nairobi.
