This data is then used to, among other things, attract advertising dollars to their platforms. Data is quickly becoming a currency which consumers can trade for services. How they choose to use that data will increasingly become their personal choice. In the interest of responsible data usage, and for the sake of continued progress, transparency is not only welcome but required. It will force out bad actors, consolidate around the responsible operators and foster a trust that we all need to continue to benefit from the economic efficiencies a data driven economy brings to us all.
