[+] edge will continue to be important well into the future. gettyIn the last few months, much has been said about the shortage of chips developed on leading edge manufacturing nodes of 7nm, 5nm, etc. While there are some shortages in chips using these advanced manufacturing processes, it turns out the semiconductor industry's other issue is at the trailing edge. Generally, these chips are a commodity, which is why most big fabs do not invest much in the trailing edge. Yet, most modern digital devices run at least a handful of chips built on the trailing edge.
