The rapid rise in our ability to collect data hasn’t been matched by our ability to support, filter and manage the data. As an example, think about the first problem that people complain about when a city experiences great growth – the roads are too crowded. Rather than collecting data for the sake of it, you identify why you need data and then go get the data to answer the questions. Facebook data is different from Marketo data—don’t try to use Facebook data to answer an unrelated question. Analyzing social data is different from understanding website traffic data.
