The contemporary art world is a cutthroat place in “Velvet Buzzsaw,” the satire-horror mashup that premiered last week on Netflix. Written and directed by Dan Gilroy, “Buzzsaw” follows an interconnected circle of art world insiders peddling six-figure “perceptions” by any means necessary. The movie’s lacklusterness seemed like the real barbed insult against the art world it depicted, more than the two-dimensional caricatures and snarky one-liners. (Morf ― Morf!!!
