Why The New York Giants Are Too Top Heavy In Their Salary-Cap Allocation

Over the next several weeks, the New York Giants are expected to make some decisions regarding some of their biggest cap eaters for 2019. Like Beckham, Solder won’t have to worry about his 2019 cap figure being touched. So what does this mean for the Giants actual cap space for 2019 as of this writing? If they use the franchise tag on Collins, that, per Over the Cap, is projected to cost them $10,618,000, which would drop their cap space to $10,122,412. If they use the transition tag, projected at $8,782,000, then the Giants' functional cap space would be $11,958,412.
