St. John’s reaffirmed its commitment to coach Chris Mullin after a rough day in which a top recruit backed out of his commitment to the school. In a statement released Saturday morning, athletic director Mike Cragg said, "Let me be clear and I said from the start, Coach Mullin is our head coach and we are not looking for another head coach." St. John’s best player, junior Shamorie Ponds, already has declared for the NBA Draft and indicated that he will stay in. Mack was supposed to be his replacement, but now St. John’s will have to look elsewhere. But at least the school won’t be looking elsewhere for a new head coach.
