At the height of a normal rush hour, Metro schedules Red Line trains to operate every three minutes. [See a big list of Red Line alternatives]This is another way to think of the service cut: Red Line trains will be reduced by one-half between Glenmont and Silver Spring, by three-quarters between Silver Spring and NoMa-Gallaudet, and by one-quarter between NoMa and Grosvenor. The Metropolitan Branch Trail parallels the Red Line between Union Station and Franklin Street NE in the Brookland neighborhood. But it won’t be enough to make this Red Line situation seem okay. In addition, watch out for crowded streets right around the Silver Spring, Takoma and Fort Totten stations.
