Amidst this war of words, there are three reasons why the government may be justified in not deferring the Budget presentation despite vehement objections from the Opposition:1. TWO PRECEDENTSIt is not the first time that the Budget was presented despite a sitting member's death on the same day. On August 31, 1974, the then minister of state in the Indira Gandhi government, MB Rana, died on the Budget day. The then Speaker GS Dhillon went ahead with the Budget presentation.
