Mercedes' high performance brand AMG is on fire, posting record global sales of nearly 100,000 units in 2016, up 44% from 2015. And to elevate the brand experience to the next level on its 50th anniversary, the German sports and race car specialist is experimenting with a world first: its very own showroom. Boasting a high octane pit-lane ambience, flooring and red and white ripple strips that look and feel like a real race-track, burn-out tire marks and several high performance cars on display, AMG Tokyo Setagaya is the world’s first dedicated AMG showroom. But why start this wave of AMG outlets in Japan, given that the country is only AMG’s 6th largest market? Recognizing the growth potential in Japan, AMG headquarters gave the nod, and today, in one of Tokyo’s wealthiest suburbs – Setagaya – the company opened its first dedicated store.
