Why Isn’t New York More Habitable For Food Trucks?


New Yorkers may relish the city’s diverse street-food offerings, from schnitzel to souvlaki. But a newly released national study ranks the Big Apple a lowly ninth out of 20 surveyed cities in terms of issues related to establishing and operating a food-truck business. The study, conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, focused on such factors as the ease of obtaining permits and licenses and the costs involved. The quality of the food offerings wasn’t considered.
