The director believes that only movies premiered and distributed in cinemas should be eligible:“Once you commit to a television format, you’re a TV movie. Should the way a film is distributed decide whether it is eligible for the Oscars? Is a film in some way unworthy of an Academy Award because people watched it at home? Fear of change manifests itself in many ways, almost always associated with what we believe we know, the industry we dominate, or simply our nature. If history teaches us anything it is that disruption and fear of change are normal, but that we must address those fears rationally.
