Egypt and Ethiopia, two countries who don’t ideologically align, had a lukewarm partnership as part of the Non-aligned Movement during the Cold War. Ethiopia and Egypt, two countries that have been in gridlock in Africa, have had several decades of conflict over the Blue Nile. With completion, the GERD will decrease the water flow to Egypt and Sudan while Ethiopia fills its portion. United Nations and American MediationEgypt has forwarded its concerns about the GERD to the United Nations Security Council.
