Fifty-five percent of Americans now think Clinton “better understands the problems of people like you,” compared with 35 percent for Trump. Fifty percent of Clinton voters now say they “mainly support Clinton” vs. only 46 percent who “mainly oppose Trump,” a 10-point swing from the 46-52 split a month ago. For example, only 38 percent of Americans think Clinton is honest and trustworthy — essentially unchanged from previous Post-ABC polls. But Trump also got a 4-point swing in “support Trump” vs. “oppose Clinton,” as well, and an increase in his favorability, despite losing ground by most other measures. The new Washington Post-ABC News poll gives Clinton an 8-point lead both with and without third-party candidates.
