Let’s look at Brookfield Infrastructure Partners as an example. I first recommended Brookfield Infrastructure in my Income Investor newsletter in September 2010 at $12.60 (split-adjusted). On Sept. 25, Brookfield Infrastructure announced it is setting up a new Canadian company, Brookfield Infrastructure Corporation (BIPC). Following completion of the special distribution, the aggregate quarterly distributions and dividends from Brookfield Infrastructure and BIPC will correspond to the quarterly distributions made on Brookfield Infrastructure units. Either way, I still like Brookfield Infrastructure for the long term.
