A few years ago, at the opening day of the Women’s Ice Hockey World Championships in Ottawa, it was a very Canadian scene. Though never the show opener (which it has often been), “Grace” did open an encore in Toronto, and the band played it as a walk-off in three cities. And there was still another song fans were waiting for. It’s a confounding song for a sometimes confounding band, and for the most anguished, uncertain moment of Saturday’s show, it was perfect. And hockey players on the ice, no matter what country they come from, will continue to know The Tragically Hip.
