The San Fransisco 49ers quaterback, Colin Kaepernick, sat down while the US national anthem was being played before a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on August 26. Sitting down during the national anthem is considered disrespect, much like in any other country, but standing up is not mandatory. Kaepernick sat down in protest against the rising atrocities against black people. Making a slight change in his position, Kaepernick now chooses to kneel down rather than sit down during the national anthem. "I'm trying to listen to what you're saying and why you're doing it."
