The title of the PowerPoint slide was, “Who led your digital transformation?” Under the title were three options:A. CEOB. CIOC. COVID-19C was circled. The fact is, however, for many of the companies that have weathered this storm so far, option B was their choice. As one compares the Great Recession of 2008 with the crisis today, there is a stark difference. When the Great Recession took hold, companies went through their IT departments with a machete, cutting entire teams of people. Thankfully, in my conversations with about 50 CIOs since the beginning of the quarantine, it appears that digital transformation efforts are remaining funded to a significant extent in many businesses.
