In one of the most comprehensive studies on developers conducted to date, HackerRank asked 40,000 developers about their coding journeys, preferences, and values. From what age they started coding to which languages they like to what work perks they want, here are some notable trends of today's developers. One in four developers started coding before they could drive. The programs have grown in popularity in recent years--8.8% of surveyed developers attributed their coding skills to accelerated programs. When it comes to learning new languages, developers are watching what Silicon Valley wants.
