White supremacist graffiti, fascist messages and racist behaviour have been allowed to flourish at the University of Auckland unchecked by senior management, students say. In a statement a university spokesperson said they work hard "to ensure that our students and staff are safe from intimidation and harassment". In 2017, the university was plastered with posters bearing the phrases "white lives matter", "let's take our country back" and "Hey white man! The group displayed Celtic symbols, commonly used by white supremacist groups, on its Facebook page. The university posted on its website "After the attack on Muslims in Christchurch, the University reaffirms its commitment to Zero Tolerance for discrimination."
