The leader of a white nationalist militia says Florida school shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz was a member of his group and participated in paramilitary drills in Tallahassee. (Joel Auerbach/Associated Press)Cruz, a 19-year-old former student at the school, has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder in the shooting. It was the deadliest school shooting in the U.S. since a gunman attacked an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., more than five years ago, killing 20. He had been attending another school in Broward County since the expulsion, school officials said. When Cruz didn't want to go to school, he would bang his head against a cement wall, the couple said.
