In a case that drew comparisons to the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin by a neighborhood watch volunteer, a white North Carolina man was found guilty of murder Thursday for gunning down an unarmed 20-year-old black man after complaining about “hoodlums” outside his house. An attorney for Thomas’s family called Copley “George Zimmerman 2.0.”The night he killed Thomas, Copley called 911 around 1 a.m. and told police to come quickly. “I’m on neighborhood watch. Minutes later, he called 911 again, saying he “fired a warning shot, and we got somebody that got hit.”“There’s freaking black males outside my freaking house with firearms. There was also no neighborhood watch in his community.
