The event was a collaboration of the kapa haka groups from Queen’s and King’s High Schools and Otago Girls’ High School. Performers spread across the food court at the mall at 2pm to sing. The event was organised by the Dunedin Collaboration Against Family Violence, a group of government and non-government organisations that work together on the issue of family violence. Stopping Violence Dunedin manager Cinnamon Boreham said the event, to raise awareness of White Ribbon Day, was the first flash mob organised, but it might be done again in future.
