The Whisky Shop chain has an outlet in Paris and 20 more in Britain GLENKEIR WHISKIESThe owner of the Whisky Shop has doubled its profits, in spite of tough conditions in the retail sector. Annual accounts for Glenkeir Whiskies show a 7 per cent rise in turnover to £12.1 million for the 12 months to the end of January. The company sells Scotch whisky as well as Irish, Japanese and other varieties in its 20 stores in Britain and an outlet in Paris. The most recent accounts show a pre-tax profit of more than £1 million, compared with about £506,000 the year before. John Beard, the co-owner, said that strong domestic and international tourism in Scotland and London had benefited the retailer.
