Had that not happened on Oct. 8, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers would never have acquired quarterback Zach Collaros in a trade a day later. Someone should send Murphy a big bouquet for getting it done as well because the Bombers were that close to not getting Collaros. Along with a defence that made stops at crucial times, Collaros won the West final for the Bombers over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. And let’s remember, the Bombers essentially acquired Collaros as insurance after Matt Nichols went down with a season-ending shoulder injury. If Collaros re-signs with the Bombers — and you can be a lot of Bombers fans hope he does — Toronto will get Winnipeg’s first-rounder.
