If one considers the expenditure, it shows that the BDA on an average spent Rs 17 on each plant. It had spent Rs 799 to plant a sapling on an average in that year. Later, the cost of planting a sapling by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) varied from Rs 8 to Rs 17. In 2006, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) had spent Rs 39.99 lakh to plant 5,000 saplings. The BDA had planted nearly 2,69,722 saplings spending around Rs 48.04 lakh between 2005 to 2013.
