Elderly people in Kiambu complain that the Cash Transfer Funddoesn’t cover enough of them. Speaking in Kiambu town yesterday, many said they had applied for the cash through the chief’s office. The elderly — aged 65 years and above — who are not pensionable and lack financial support, are entitled to a monthly stipend of Sh2,000 from the government under the Cash Transfer Fund. “There should be data at the ward level to identify all old people so officials running the fund can help the elderly access the cash,” Waithera said. Many who receive cash also complain the Sh2,000 is not enough to sustain them and say economic times are tough.
