Rohingya refugees, who arrived in Bangladesh since August 25, are mainly women, children and the elderly. The refugees said most of the youths have been killed by the Myanmar military while many others are missing. Myanmar army launched a brutal ‘security operation’ targeting Rohingya villages in the Rakhine state after insurgents attacked 30 police posts and an army base on August 25. Most of the Rohingya refugees seen in bordering Cox’s Bazar district’s Teknaf and Ukhiya were women and children. It has been learned that the army had arrested many youths for their alleged links with Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and Harakah al-Yaqin and killed many more.
