Outside of Cabrera only Jeimer Candelario, Niko Goodrum and Harold Castro have logged Major League innings at first base. After a disappointing 2020 campaign low-lighted by a couple of injuries and disappointing offensive output, Niko Goodrum found himself out of a job. Now with a bill of good health and a new contract Jonathan Schoop seems to be a lock to be the every day second baseman. Furthermore, that could potentially open up some innings at second base for Niko Goodrum or even Isaac Paredes. So perhaps Niko Goodrum, Isaac Paredes and Jonathan Schoop should pack first baseman’s gloves in their bags to Lakeland.
