Where Students Were Stabbed, a School on a Downward Slide

Cork bulletin boards were placed around the school with standards of behavior expected of the students. Last year, the school began a social and emotional learning program with Urban Assembly that tries to build student self-confidence and encourage responsible decision-making. On the school surveys, 92 percent of teachers indicated that bullying, harassment and intimidation by students were a problem. On Friday, Urban Assembly marshaled its resources in a grim and unusual way. Counselors from other schools, including the Urban Assembly Bronx Academy of Letters and the Urban Assembly Gateway School For Technology in Manhattan, were sent to Wildlife to help students through their grief.
