BETTER late than never; that’s what one might say of the Prime Minister’s statement that the Perikatan Nasional government’s stand is that all Malaysians are bound by the law and no one is exempt, “PM: No one is above the law” (The Star, Aug 25). But what does “no one is above the law” actually mean? Each omission to make such an entry, if the omission was to conceal or to facilitate fraud, was a distinct offence. No one is above the law, not even a kadi whose duty was a religious and solemn one. Only then is no one above the law.
