As a former search professional who now runs a university Career Services department, I think it is important to note that when recruiters treat job-seekers poorly, it's not because they are bad people. It's because employers treat recruiters terribly, too. Employers often treat recruiters even worse than they treat job-seekers. There is no question that some employers treat recruiters, Career Services departments, Workforce Development professionals and other conduits to talent as interchangeable, valueless, insignificant servants. The minute we blame the broken system for our own fear-fueled words and actions, we tell ourselves and the whole world "I am nothing!
