Jets captain Blake Wheeler was noticeably absent from practice on Wednesday, but coach Paul Maurice said he’ll be fine to play Thursday’s home game against Boston. Wheeler collided with San Jose’s Logan Couture in Tuesday’s game, appearing to catch Couture’s elbow and leaving the game for some time in the third period. Defenceman Nathan Beaulieu should also be ready to play, Maurice said, even though he missed practice, too. Both goalies have been really, really good.”The defence in front of them hasn’t been, particularly with Dustin Byfuglien and Josh Morrissey on the shelf. But we can be a better defensive team in front of him.”
