LAHORE: The wheat crop harvesting and threshing process is running smoothly across the country and it is likely to be quick this season as the labour is available in abundance in the crop area due to lockdown. Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Thursday inaugurated the wheat harvesting campaign in Rajanpur. He said the wheat procurement target this year had been fixed at 4.5 million metric ton and the wheat would be procured at Rs1,400 per maund. The government started distributing the bardana (wheat gunny bags) in Punjab and the wheat procurement process is also in full swing in Sindh and other parts of the country. Moreover, wheat harvest has been an annual festival for many families because they arrange their annual wheat stock in this season, the wheat farmer said.
