The U.K. human rights lawyer, who requested not to be named, was the first to sound the alarm over the WhatsApp attack after receiving a series of suspicious calls last month. The human rights lawyer believed that the attack on his phone was unsuccessful but feared other targets were compromised and surveilled. Indeed, WhatsApp has received praise for contacting human rights groups to warn about the attack. The human rights lawyer remains pragmatic about what's happened.
