Lorna Baker's video of a mysterious pink whale in Long Beach went viral, with many saying they've seen similar, or the same whale in different areas of the province. "There was about 50 of us on the beach, and we looked at each other and were like 'OK everybody seen pink right? The video she captured of three whales — one of them pink — went viral on social media in the days after, with many trying to solve the mystery. Some commented saying they have seen similar whales, or even the same whale, in different places this summer. DFO research scientist Jack Lawson has some theories, and believes the pink whale is also a minke.
